Bergman ready for World Supersport challenge

Christoffer Bergman heads to Motorland Aragon to kick off his second season in the World Supersport Championship together with the Wójcik Racing Team.

Last year the Swede’s campaign was cut short due to a serious leg injury, but the 31-year-old returned to action for the FIM EWC season finale to score a podium finish together with the Wójcik Racing Team in the Superstock class.

For 2021 Bergman returns to the World Supersport Championship for this fourth season in the series and his second one with the Polish team. He will ride a no. 71 Yamaha R6.

The “Super Swede” completed a successful, two-day private test at the Motorland Aragon circuit in Spain earlier in the year before impressing during the official World Supersport test at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya where he recorded a fifth fastest lap time on day one.

“We are starting the season much more prepared and with a much better package than last year – says Christoffer Bergman. – On the other hand the level of the Championship keeps getting higher and higher with so many riders able to fight for victories. I was fifth fastest on the first day of the official test in Barcelona, which confirms our progress and shows that we are competitive but my goals are the same as last year. I want to be consistently inside the Top 10, keep closing the gap to the leader and fight for the Top 5 and maybe even podiums by the end of the year. As a rider I’ll also need to get used to these short but intense “sprints” again, rather than the endurance “marathons”. I like Motorland Aragon. We had a good test there some time ago and found a good base setting. That’s very important. We’ll have two races each weekend this year but one practice less, which means less time to work on the bike”.
