Gino Rea, Christoffer Bergman and Marek Szkopek are the squad of Polish Wójcik Racing Team. The riders will take turns on Yamaha R1 #77 in EWC formula.
This is the second time for the team in the final FIM Endurance World Championship. Last year the Polish team debuted on Japanese circuit and now in 2019 Wójcik Racing Team are coming back in stronger and more experienced squad.
I have great memories of Suzuka 8 Houres race – says Gino Rea. – First time I took part in the race in 2016 with Toho Moriwakim Honda. Despite having some technical problems we managed to move from 50th to 11th position so it was hard but satisfying race. This year will be very tough as always in Japan. The most difficult for us are high temperatures and humidity there.
Christoffer Bergman is also looking forward to starting the race. – I am very excited to take part in the championship. I have always dreamed about it and I will do my best at the same time enjoying every moment of the event. Of course, it will be a big challenge, both the race itself and the preparation {getting to know the track and getting used to the climatic conditions}. I am really thrilled and can’t wait to the event – says the rider.
This is the second time Marek Szkopek will join Wójcik Racing Team in Suzuka 8 Houres. – It is a very tough race. There are incredibly difficult conditions for us Europeans – he points out. – The track is very demanding, there is high humidity of the air and incredible heat. What is more, the Japanese riders are very experienced and don’t hesitate to risk. Nevertheless, Suzuka is addictive and I’ll come back there this year with pleasure to fight for the highest position for our team.
The 8-hour race will take place on 28th July 17, 2019 on Japanese Suzuka circuit. This is the 42nd edition of the legendary event and at the same time the final of the season of FIM Endurance World Championship.
