Wójcik Racing Team Impress at Le Mans 24H

Riders of the Wójcik Racing Team impressed with their pace during the opening round of the FIM Endurance World Championship, battling for a podium position in the early hours of the legendary 24 Heures Motos at the French circuit of Le Mans.

Although the squad led by Grzegorz Wójcik was forced to retire just a few hours before the finish, they had already surprised the entire paddock with their performance.

Krzemień fights for podium

Kamil Krzemień made a sensational start to the race, charging through the field onboard the #77 Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP and moving up from 18th to third place in the opening hour. During his first stint, the 25-year-old fought fiercely for second position under extremely challenging conditions on a wet and slippery track.

In the following hours, Jurand Kuśmierczyk – who raced despite aggravating a hip injury during practice – and Artur Wielebski kept the Polish team in the top five of the race.

When Krzemień returned for his next stint, he suffered a serious crash in Turn 8 and was unable to continue due to a shoulder injury.

Although the mechanics repaired the bike in just a few minutes, the team dropped to the very back of the field while waiting for the Honda to be recovered from the track.

With no chance of scoring points and down to just two riders, the team made the difficult decision to retire in the early morning.

Molik turns heads

18-year-old Mateusz Molik turned heads in Le Mans despite travelling to France as a reserve rider for Wójcik Racing Team. However, after showing impressive pace in qualifying, he was invited to race for the German Motobox Kremer squad.

Despite being unfamiliar with both the bike and tyres, the reigning Polish Supersport 600 Champion delivered a strong performance during the race. Although he suffered a crash during the night and was unable to continue, his team finished 11th in the EWC class.

The second round of the FIM EWC World Championship will take place in early June at the iconic Spa-Francorchamps circuit in Belgium. Before that, Wójcik Racing Team will kick off their Polish WMMP Championship campaign in Poznań, with Molik, Kuśmierczyk, and Wielebski all fighting for more national titles.

“One of our most challenging outings”

“Without a doubt, this was one of our most challenging outings in the FIM Endurance World Championship,”said team principal Grzegorz Wójcik“The entire crew did a phenomenal job, and the bike was working perfectly even after the unlucky crash we suffered in the evening. We wanted and were able to continue, but our time deficit was too great, and the conditions were extremely demanding.

“The risks far outweighed the potential gains, especially from the riders’ perspective,” Wójcik continued.“Since their safety is always our top priority, we decided to retire. It was a tough call, but the entire team put in an incredible effort in Le Mans, and that will no doubt pay off in the upcoming rounds. Huge thanks to the entire crew, our riders, and of course all the fans who supported us throughout the weekend.”
