The motorcycle racing star will join the team competing in FIM Endurance World Championship. The Australian, Broc Parkes, will debut in Polish national colours in April. –We can be on the podium, or even win! – forecasts Parkes.
Obviously, we are talking about the legendary 24-hour Le Mans endurance race. What is now becoming tradition, both Wójcik Racing Teams are going to be put out to the battle at 18th of April. The recently created national representation team consisting of Marek Szkopek, Adrian Pasek and Artur Wielebski will compete with number 777 in the World Cup in Superstock category. Currently, #777 team takes fourth position in the classification. The second team, competing in EWC specification, is represented by Gino Rea, Christoffer Bergman and Axel Maurin. The #77 line-up for Le Mans was uncertain – complication arised due to Christoffer commitment to race in the full WorldSBK series. Swedish rider will fight for WorldSBK points in Assen during the same weekend as Le Mans.
-In this season we are focusing on world championship. Competing in Supersport 600 in WorldSBK is a massive project, which requires building a new team especially for this series. Nevertheless, we are not going to quit endurance racing, which still remain our priority – says team director, Grzegorz Wójcik. – Furthermore, we are now standing in front of the opportunity to get a double podium for the whole season. Both teams are very close to achieve that target. Let’s not forget the #77 team is currently standing at the third position in general classification. We are going to Le Mans with 48 points on our account and there is still 65 points to gather in France, hence it will be an exciting round which can decide about the outcome of the whole year. We are aiming to stand on the podium of 2019-2020 season, therefore we were looking for a strong replacement for Christoffer. I believe the team consisting of Gino Rea, Axel Maurin and Broc Parkes is able to bring lots of emotions to our supporters, and hopefully raise the Polish flag above the Bugatti circuit.
Broc Parkes became famous due to his successes in Supersport world championship, but also he raced in British Superbike and MotoGP series. He has got a lot of experience in FIM Endurance World Championship, so far he represented the Yamaha factory team. Although Parkes shown up as a reserve rider for YART team in the Provisional Entry List for Le Mans, finally he will ride in the main line-up in Wójcik Racing Team.
-I know Gino for many years, I used to race against him and I know how fast is he. Axel is also a very fast competitor and it is a pleasure to join the team of the top riders – says Broc Parkes. – I think we can be extremely strong team and not only finish the 24-hours race but also be on its podium, or even win! Personally I love Le Mans, it is a legendary race, fantastic vibes and crowds of fans! I am preparing for the season in Australia and I am strongly motivated. Can’t wait for it!
24 Hours Motos will begin at Saturday, 18th of April. There are 57 teams committed to start in this race, where 36 out of them are contracted for the whole season. After the 24-hours long challenge there are only two 8-hour races left – Oschersleben and Japanese Suzuka.
