35-year-old South African Sheridan Morais will join Gino Rea and Broc Parkes onboard the no. 77 Wójcik Racing Team’s Yamaha R1 during the 12h of Estoril, season finale of the FIM Endurance World Championship.

Sixth in the Championship, the Polish team, racing with the support of PKN ORLEN, is aiming to challenge for a top three result in the overall standings at Estoril. New signing, Morais joined Rea, Parkes and the Polish riders of Wójcik Racing Team’s Superstock no. 777 crew for a three-day test in Portugal this week.

Fifth in the FIM EWC overall standing last year, Sheridan brings in a wealth of experience in World Superbike and World Supersport Championships as he takes over from Frenchman Axel Maurin. Christoffer Bergman, who continues to recover from a pre-season injury, remains a key pillar of the Polish squad.

„I’m really happy to be joining the Wójcik Racing Team – says Sheridan Morais. – My introduction to the team has been very smooth and it really feels like a family. I know my teammates very well and look forward to sharing the bike and having a good time with them. Everyone’s very friendly and the morale is very good. Estoril is an awesome track and I’m really looking forward to racing there next weekend. It’s got everything. I rode there two years ago but with the new surface it was good to have a three-day test here. The bike was working really well, no issues whatsoever. Our laptimes were really good and the Dunlop tyres were lasting really long, 40-lap stints. We don’t really have a reference point but if we can do these times in the race we can be fighting for the podium, if not the win.”

„Estoril is a new circuit so testing here was absolutely crucial and I’m really happy that we’ve managed to come here for these three days – says Team Principal Grzegorz Wójcik. – We’re looking forward to Sheridan racing for us in Estoril. He’s a quality rider and his track knowledge will surely be an extra asset. Having said that, we’d like to thank Axel Maurin for his work and effort in the last year, especially the podium he gave us at Bol d’Or together with Gino and Christoffer. We wish him well for his future while our final position in this season’s standings will be our joint effort. Now lets make sure next weekend it’s the highest one possible.”
